The surrounding gardens and animals create a nice oasis for the heart of the strip. We quickly got ready and our bags were waiting by the door thirty minutes later after our adventure the night before of schlepping our luggage across the casino floor, we were more than ready to let someone assist us. Add in the monorail, attached to the rear of the property, and you can move up and down the strip at ease. My sister and I were unable to remain for more than approximately an hour on this property within the casino area, as the cleaner irritated our nose, eyes and throat. The hotel may feel a bit dated, but the rooms are consistently clean and spacious in comparision to some of the newer properties. And by old, I mean dark, dreary, dirty and just plain gross. Another was found, however we had to move the next morning. Entering our new room was like walking into sunlight after being locked in a dark cave. The room reminded me of Willy Wonka and his candy factory β€” full of bright whites, pinks and lots of cheery stripes. The Flamingo's reputation of having the best pool held out! It was very annoying that on every corner there were families of immigrants yes children too passing out X-rated cards to gentleman's clubs. I know I'm not stating anything new here in my title. We found a room at The Signature sq. Do not disturb signs are stolen off handles so tie yours to your door. While we know kids can't gamble, I don't understand why the whole family must always walk through a casino to get anywhere. Sit and relax for awhile and even have one of you go get coffee and pastries from the bakery to bring back to your chairs. The grounds are kept clean and there's staff continously cleaning up. Make sure you are seated downstairs in the main area so that you can watch the videos and see the show that goes off every hour. Here's a tip if you are bringing kids: The main pool opens at 8 a. At 10 a. While I gambled a little bit, I had no real luck. Save yourself the frustration. Having gambled before in Atlantic City and on cruises, I wasn't used to the new way of playing slots with tickets and not cash. Another cool feature was a TV located behind the mirror in the bathroom so you could watch TV while getting ready. When speaking with information counter person- Greg who was very professional, regarding the air purifier smell he spoke with the Front Desk Manager- Jennifer Tarro or Farro who was very nonchalant and unconcerned about their air quality and guest allergies.{/INSERTKEYS}{/PARAGRAPH} In all the hotels, it was difficult to get to the restaurants or outside. The housekeeping within the halls lacked leaving garbage along the lengths. This pool closes at 5 p. You get what you pay for and the Flamingo is a good deal for being right on the strip. You have to bring your own towels as towels are for hotel guests only , but they do provide lockers for you to keep your personal belongings in while you're there. We saw several people celebrating their 21st birthday with balloon hats in the shape of that number. There was no offer to assist us with our luggage or help us find our new room which, by the way, proved to be pretty difficult! My husband was holding the hand of our 7-year-old daughter and they were still trying to give him information. This was still a better deal than booking a GO room in the first place. It truly was disgusting. A clumsy waitress comes out pretending to spill drinks on you then winds up in a volcano, then a blender of margaritas with just her bikini on It's cute and harmless for the kids and there are these guys walking around on stilts making balloon hats for everyone. First off, some good news-- the line was long at check-in on a Friday night, but they moved us along very quickly. Needless to say, I was very perplexed by the lack of service offered by the bellman, especially since it would have assured him a tip. {PARAGRAPH}{INSERTKEYS}Didn't actually stay at this hotel, but the hotel we stayed at had a very tiny pool and not much happening, and I had heard that you could buy daily pool passes to other Vegas hotels, so I called around. I wish I had a map of the quickest ways to get around though. The food and service was very good. Few Positives - good location in the center of the strip near Ceasars, Bellagio. Definitely different but very well received! However, my husband said that the employees he dealt with that day were friendly and courteous. Nice pool but over crowded and impossible to find a lounge chair or place to sit. The room we were moved to was not vacuumed with nacho chips on the carpet, sink was plugged and the bath had black mold around the chalking. I could see if you are on the side roads were some people venture out-- but the main strip? Get down there early enough and there will still be chairs available in the slide pool even though you can't go in the water. The DJ plays some pretty good music and the atmosphere is generally festive in a laid back sort of way. I found it rather odd, and even a little rude, to place a handicapped room that far from everything. Needless to say, many pieces of clothing were worn to bed that night! There are also plenty of lounge chairs all over the place. We finished our ten day trip with three nights in Vegas. Although dwarfed by some of the nearby hotels on the strip - this old standby continues to provide a great place to stay in the heart of the strip - for a good price. Our favorite dining experience was a late lunch at Mon Ami Gabi's at the Paris hotel next store to the Flamingo. While I know the new ad campaigns target partying singles and couples, I was still a little surprised at just how family unfriendly this place had become. The first night we arrived, we ate dinner at Jimmy Buffet's Margaritaville right in the Flamingo, actually that wasn't too expensive. Unfortunately, almost all hotels in Vegas have stopped this practice due to liabilities, and honestly, they're not to be blamed. Also, I would have liked to have booked a show. The pool is fabulous - large enough not to feel crowded, although in actuality it was. The buffet is just so-so compared to some of the larger ones, however for a quick breakfast or lunch, it will do just fine. Regular rooms are dark and dingy. Room service is excellent and prices comparable to the other major hotels. While it's downright vicious in the morning to secure a chair-- and people try to hold them for hours while they go have breakfast or gamble, once you get over that stress, it is relaxing. It was also great to use the walkways over traffic to get to other casinos. You will see people ready to pounce on your chairs the moment you leave! We sat in the outdoor cafe and watched the fountains from the Bellagio go off every half hour with nice music to match. We had to wait about 30 minutes on a Friday night. Las Vegas was our last stop on a family vacation after having been to Zion, Lake Powell and the north rim of the Grand Canyon. Maintence had told us that the bulbs burned out too quickly and they were eventually taking them all out of the rooms. If location is your goal, then you would be hard pressed to find a better located place in the heart of the action. Jimmy Buffett's Margaritaville is outside the entrance. The outside wall by the front door and the door to the bathroom area were done in a frosted glass so you could see what was going on in the bathroom, whether the person in there wanted you to or not! The pool bar has daily drink specials and from 4pm to 6pm it's Happy Hour, so drinks are 2 for 1. We also lacked batteries in our remote control but after a phone call, they quickly brought some up. Would not repeat, there are much better choices and values in Vegas. This is important, because you'll want to spend your time elsewhere. We also enjoyed another great lunch at the Palms in Ceasers. However, the Flamingo holds a daily Pool Party beginning at 4pm until about 8pm, when the pool closes and it's open to the public. Food and drinks were very expensive, but we had some excellent meals. The Flamingo enticed my sister and I, due to their 15 acres of pool area. My money goes a lot slower if I have to manually put in 3 quarters each time. I knew our kids would love the TV in the bathroom and they did. The rooms appeared to be quite new and at that point, new and clean! There is NO coffee machines in the rooms. I have been to Vegas numerous times staying at different properties for the experience each had to offer however this property needs major renovation and upkeep! The room is very tacky It was very clean though and the AC worked fine. We did, however, love the shopping and just about every hotel has its own mall. Upon arrival at check-in which was pm, we were told our room was given away. Next time I go to Vegas, I may just stay at the Flamingo! If we return to Vegas, we will choose a different hotel and maybe not take the kids. They also liked the automatic curtains, but the cool chrome night lamps that twist over your bed to read did not work. My husband and I checked in late on a Saturday night and there were none left so we were put in an old room. The pool is also one of the better in the area - great for families or folks interested in a calm and relaxing place to lay out. It was old, dreary, dusty and just plain nasty. While we were a bit disappointed that we had not been made aware of that fact at check-in, we were glad to agree to it knowing what the alternative was! However, after looking at the inside of other hotels like the Bellagio, Paris and Ceasers, I wish we had paid a little more maybe a lot moe to stay in Las Vegas.
